TidalWeave™ Seamless Abrasion Protection and Armor-Plated SuperFabric™ Pockets
Among Many Technical Features in These Advanced Fishing Garments
Grundéns — the company that has made a name protecting commercial fishermen worldwide— is pioneering a new line of technical sportfishing apparel with the 2015 ICAST debut of its new, innovation-packed Breakwater Pants and Breakwater Shorts.
These technically advanced garments signal the impending arrival of the Grundéns Sportfishing Collection for 2016, that will encompass pants, shorts, technical fishing shirts, sun protection, headwear and more, all made to protect anglers on the water while celebrating the fishing lifestyle.
Featuring quick-dry, 4-way stretch, and superior stain and water resistance, Grundéns Breakwater Pants and Shorts are engineered for fishing. Both are crafted from comfortable, lightweight nylon 4-way stretch material with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) finish. A key to these garments’ good looks, comfort and performance on the water is Grundéns’ innovative TidalWeave™ fabric technology. This breakthrough technique replaces traditional cut-and-sew technology with a seamless blending of different densities and textures, allowing for superior abrasion resistance in critical areas while maximizing comfort, breathability and ease of movement. Fewer seams also mean a more durable, better looking and better performing garment whether you’re on the boat, on the jetty or relaxing after a long day of fishing.
Breakwater Pants feature TidalWeave™ fabric technology in the seat and knees, giving active fishermen superior abrasion resistance where it’s needed with the comfort and natural ease of movement they want on deck. Designed for warm weather anglers and others who prefer the comfort of shorts, Breakwater Shorts are constructed with TidalWeave™ fabric to provide reinforcement across the seat and pocket areas.

Grundéns also uses SuperFabric™ technology on both the Breakwater Pants and Shorts. SuperFabric™ uses tiny armor plates arranged in a specific pattern to create a durable, slash-proof, extremely abrasion resistant material that can be integrated into key areas of fishing garments. SuperFabric™ is used to create an innovative plier pocket on both the Breakwater Pants and Breakwater Shorts. With its easy top access port, this pocket keeps important tools right at hand while preventing abrasion or cuts from wire cutters, pliers, knives and other sharp objects while still allowing the entire garment to move, stretch and breath as intended.
Both of these purpose-driven garments are constructed for the way people really fish. Breakwater Pants are tailored with articulated knees and crotch gussets, a sturdy zip fly, snap waistband, mesh vent hand pockets, and snap security flap covers on both the bellowed cargo pockets and back pockets. Breakwater Shorts offer the same construction features, with an articulated crotch gusset to allow natural movement on deck. The bellowed cargo pockets on both garments are spacious enough to store wallets, phones, leader spools, fly pouches and other important gear fishermen want to keep ready and accessible.
The new Breakwater Pants and Shorts will be offered in Dark Slate, Olive Night, Monument (Gray) and Lark (Khaki), in a range of waist sizes from 30-40 inches to accommodate a wide variety of fishermen. Breakwater Pants will be also be available in three inseam lengths — Short, Medium and Long.
