Local Business Leader Nominated for NCTA Tech Exec of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WILMINGTON, N.C.—September 24, 2014— Brett Martin, CEO and founder of CastleBranch and tekMountain in Wilmington, NC, has been nominated for the North Carolina Technology Association's (NCTA) coveted “Tech Exec of the Year” Award. The winner will be selected through a "people's choice" format and can be voted on at http://bit.ly/1pi7lEf until September 30th, 2014.

Martin is the only Wilmington-based executive nominated for the award . He has been recognized for the important impact he has made in the North Carolina and Wilmington-area business and technology landscapes over the last 15 years. Landmark achievements of 2013 and 2014 include the decision to build and subsequent grand-opening of a 60,000 square foot state-of-art headquarters in Wilmington as opposed to Petaluma, CA. The expansion will create at least 420 new jobs in the Wilmington area by 2017 , and puts the CastleBranch campus at over 100,000 square-feet of high-tech office space.

The technology business incubator, known as tekMountain, occupies the top floor of the new building, which is approximately 20,000 square feet. Through this initiative, CastleBranch aims to accelerate the growth of Wilmington's high-wage knowledge economy by hosting and training education technology-based companies. Through the employee incubator program, eligible CastleBranch employees can also also grow their own businesses. They receive incentives from the company, including access to its large client base.

“CastleBranch services have always been at the forefront of technology. tekMountain is a rewarding example of our commitment to the Wilmington area by offering our experience and guidance to local start-up tech companies,” says Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CastleBranch, Brett Martin. “I certainly know that CastleBranch, in its start-up years, would have savored such an opportunity. It brings me great joy to be able to offer that to others now.”

In addition to his contributions in the business sector, Martin founded HeartsApart.org in 2010, a non-profit organization created to keep families connected while our military men and women are serving abroad. Through the efforts of the country’s finest photographers, HeartsApart.org provides servicemen and women with pictures of their spouses and children to take with them while serving abroad. In 2012, the White House recognized HeartsApart.org as one of the country’s greatest charities dedicated to serving the military.

CastleBranch Corporation is the 10th largest employment and student screening company in the country. It provides background screening, drug testing, employment verification and other services to its growing global client base. The company, which began operations in Chapel Hill in 1997, moved to Wilmington in 2002 with 32 employees. CastleBranch moved to its current location in 2009. The company recently opened a sales office in Petaluma, CA. CastleBranch divisions include CertifiedBackground, CertifiedProfile, CertifiedHealthcare, CourtSearch and CourtMail.
