Premier Rail Collection’s 2014
THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride and Train to Christmas Town
Far Exceed Expectations with 50 Percent Growth in Ridership
Chicago, Ill., Jan. 22, 2014 – Operating six POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Rides and three Train to Christmas Town Train Rides across the United States from New York to Oregon, and two in Great Britain, the Premier Rail Collection is thrilled to report a successful 2014 season, including 50 percent growth in ridership from the previous year and two newly debuted locations.
Launching for the first time in 2014, The Eastern Flyer Polar Express and The Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Polar Express resulted in over 75,000 combined new passengers, generating remarkable exposure and employment for both surrounding communities.
“THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride single handedly unified our small city together this holiday season,” said Mayor Leonard Washington of Bristow. “We were thrilled to be able to provide families of Oklahoma with a new tradition that we hope will continue for many years to come.”
In addition to Bristow, Okla. and Middleton, Wis., Premier Rail Collection operated 2014 POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Rides in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. at the Saratoga & North Creek Railway, in Palestine and Lubbock, Texas at the Texas State Railroad and West Texas & Lubbock Railway, in Hood River, Oregon at the Mount Hood Railroad, as well as in Great Britain at the Weardale Railway in Stanhope and the Dartmoor Railway. The Train to Christmas Town, an exclusive Premier Rail Event Christmas Train, welcomed delighted holiday passengers onboard the Santa Cruz Railway & Monterey Bay Railway in Santa Cruz, Cal., the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad in Alamosa, Col., and the Cape Cod Central Railroad in Cape Cod, Mas.
In total, over 283,000 guests experienced the magical journeys and ventured to the North Pole onboard vintage-style rail cars complete with hot chocolate, onboard caroling, story-book characters and Santa himself. Premier Rail Collection hopes to expand operation of the Polar Express to new cities in 2015, aiming to spread Christmas cheer to families across the U.S. and Great Britain.
