Champlain College’s Robert P. Stiller School of Business Holds 2016 'Honoring Excellence' Reception

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Champlain College’s Robert P. Stiller School of Business recognized outstanding seniors, honor students and presented scholarships at its 2016 Honoring Excellence Reception at the College’s Champlain Room on April 16.

Students who were acknowledged at the event have demonstrated qualities relating to the division’s mission statement, which reads, “The Stiller School of Business develops the strengths, integrity, expertise and entrepreneurial mindset of aspiring and innovative professionals to create positive change in their lives, workplace, communities and the world.”

The evening began with welcoming and opening remarks speeches by Wes Balda, Dean of the Stiller School of Business, and Laurie Quinn, Provost and Chief Academic Officer of the College. Sarah Demers, a senior Business major, also spoke at the event. Champlain College President Donald J. Laackman also spoke to the honorees. Music was provided by Eric Sample and Justin Rose.

The following Stiller School of Business seniors received the Academic Excellence awards in their majors:

  • Accounting - Monica Birchmore, Benjamin Drinkwine, Dawn Elliott, Abigail Frary, Joseph Freitas, Katelyn Michell, Nikki-Marie Trivisonno, and Melissa Walden.

  • Business - Lisa Ashley, Renae Bouchard, Sarah Demers, Karisa Desjardins, Maria Jarvis, Steven Macomber, Kirby McThompson, Shannon Ryan, and Alyssa Tetreault.

  • International Business - Domingos Kumpessa, Jacob Shapiro, and Adam Vernali.

  • Management of Creative Media - Taylor Bibaud, Taylor Covington, Mariana Franzetti, Roland Garofalo, Matthew Leta, Shannon Mitchell, Kyle Patterson, Colin Rebord, Zachary Saxe, and Paige Schmittlein.

  • Management & Innovation - Meghan Condon and Gregory Johnson.

  • Marketing - Everett Ackerman, Lauren Buniva, Jorie Spaulding, Benjamin Villnave, and Katherine Weed.

Stiller School of Business Scholarship recipients were honored:

  • Gallagher, Flynn & Company Scholarship - Cameron Rendall.

  • KPMG David Coates Scholarship - Kohlfield Davis.

  • Grippin, Donlan & Pinkham Scholarship - Alexandria Ratajczak.

  • Accounting Excellence Scholarship - Roberto Pierre and Hannah Wagner.

  • Rita Shangraw Scholarship - Julian Lopez.

  • Charlie Nagelschmidt Business Excellence Scholarship - Ingrid French.

  • Dean’s Scholarships - Jeffrey Diehl, Victoria Morelli, Mauro Agnellini, and Emily Rice.

  • Sarah Ramsey ‘12 Strong Scholarship - Emily Connor.

Twenty one new members of the Champlain College chapter of Sigma Beta Delta were inducted Saturday  in recognition of their academic achievements in business, management, and administration. The business honor society that “encourages and recognizes scholarship and accomplishment and encourages and promotes aspirations toward personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.”

The new inductees are: Lisa Ashley, Emily Connor, Taylor Covington, Kohlfield Davis, Jeffrey Diehl, Mariana Franzetti, Ingrid French, Domingos Kumpessa, Matthew Leta, Julian Lopez, Steven Macomber, Kylie McKeever, Katelyn Michell, Victoria Morelli, Roberto Pierre, Emily Rice, Jorie Spaulding, Alyssa Tetrault, Benjamin Villnave, Hannah Wagner, and Katherine Weed.
