Welcome to the May/June 2016 issue of Shine On Hollywood Magazine (SOHM)! As we bask in the warm California Sun, we look forward to the second half of the year with anticipation and gratitude for you, our loyal readers! The editors at Shine On Hollywood are thrilled to bring you inspirational stories from the world of Top Asian, Pacific-Islander and Hispanic Industry Professionals! There’s never shortage of talent in this town, as we bring you inspiring stories from the fields of Entertainment, Philanthropy and Personal Development.
This month’s cover story features motivational speaker and music promoter Pricilla Valldeluji. She began her career in the industry as a receptionist at Robert Abel & Associates and worked her way up to Personal/Executive Assistant to celebrities in Hollywood ranging from Goldie Hawn to Al B. Sure!, and continued on to become a music promoter. Pricilla gives back to the community as a board member of ISBL (International Society of Black Latinos) which aims to educate the world communities of the existence of Afro-Latinos, and the influence that the African diaspora continues to have on Latin cultures around the world.
Next up is author and film director, John Lo Mar. He directed over 30 films throughout his career and got his start when he joined the Shaw Brothers studio, working alongside the legendary producer Run Run Shaw. He climbed the ladder to become one of Hong Kong Cinema’s most recognized film directors. His films have been described as poems, paintings and enchanting pieces of music—as works of art by his fans and film aficionados alike. If you are a Hong Kong Cinema connoisseur, you won’t want to miss this article!
This month we are also featuring Munni Irone—a philanthropist and author, she’s known as the Philanthropy Queen of Beverly Hills. She founded The Arts for Peace Awards—a world-wide contest and collective celebration of the arts from every culture around the planet. This historic global movement launched in India in March 2016. Each of the seven continents will elect a winner to represent them in the final awards ceremony in Beverly Hills later this year.
We encourage you to “Let them be your motivation.”
