The arrival of warm days, chartreuse leaves, and baby animals brings the anticipation of summer days on the cool, refreshing Boysen Reservoir in Wyoming’s Wind River Country/Fremont County. The nearby town of Shoshoni is ready to celebrate summer with you on its upcoming full weekend of family fun.
Kick off the weekend of Friday, June 10 with an appreciation dance that everyone is welcome to attend. Come swing your partner to the live tunes of the Sundowners Band. Held at the Fire Hall, 106 E. 2nd St., at 7pm-11pm. Tickets $5.
Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12 will mark the eighth annual Shoshoni Days Festival with events planned throughout the small town. Shoshoni will hold a parade, kids barrel train rides and stick horse races, tethered hot air balloon rides, a 4-wheeler poker run and softball tournament, even a treasure hunt. Learn more about Shoshoni Days by calling (307) 876-2777 or firstname.lastname@example.org
In conjunction with Shoshoni Days, the 21st annual Don Layton Memorial Antique Tractor and Engine Show will run at the park on the east side of town. Hosted by the Wind River Flywheelers, the show will begin at 9 a.m. both Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. Sunday’s lineup also includes a tractor drive at 10 a.m. Craft vendors, antique displays, a full-size Case steam engine, and a one-third-size Reeves steam engine are sure to fascinate. Fresh, homemade food and live music will keep your energy level high. Watch the Antique Tractor Pull Saturday after lunch and Sunday after the tractor drive. The kids can enjoy pedal tractors, a sandbox and more all weekend long. You just may find a special treasure to take home for a bargain at one of the garage sales dotted around town.
Be sure to keep an eye out for raffle items throughout the weekend. For more information, call Carlta Witthar at (307) 856-1164 or e-mail: email@example.com.
Kick off summer by visiting Shoshoni for a small-town welcome full of Western tradition and access to a paddle or dip in the cool fresh water at the nearby Boysen reservoir after all that fun.
