WILEY X® SPONSORED RACER MATT KENSETH WORKS OVERTIME TO WIN FOOD CITY 500 AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Joey Logano Kicks Off Weekend With Saturday’s Wire-to-Wire NASCAR XFINITY® Series Win

On April 19, racing superstar Matt Kenseth added to what has already been an amazing start to the 2015 NASCAR season for Wiley X®-sponsored drivers.  On a day when Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway saw lengthy rain delays and interruptions and numerous crashes, cautions and re-starts, Kenseth earned a hard-fought victory Sunday at the Sprint Cup Series Food City 500.

Kenseth had to work overtime for the win, as the race was extended 11 laps past its schedule distance of 500 miles.  This made the Food City 500 the longest race in the history of this famous 0.533-mile short track.  However, the rain-soaked win was well worth waiting for, as it got Kenseth back into Victory Lane after a drought of more than a year.  Kenseth pulled away after the final restart and finished 0.287 seconds ahead of second place Jimmie Johnson. The win was Kenseth’s 32nd career victory and fourth at Bristol, more than any other single track.

The victory all but assures Kenseth’s entry into the Chase for the Sprint Cup.  Kenseth’s win comes on the heels of recent successes by other top Wiley X-sponsored racers this season, including victories and strong finishes by the likes of Kevin Harvick® and Joey Logano. Following the race at Bristol, the current Chase for the Sprint Cup points standings show three Wiley X racers in the Top 10, with Harvick and Logano sitting 1st and 2nd and Kenseth in 8th

The weekend was a great one for Wiley X for another reason — on Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway, Logano led every lap in the NASCAR XFINITY® Series Race, earning the checkered flag as well as his 23rd career XFINITY Series victory in dominating fashion.

“As each racing weekend rolls by and the victories add up, the pride we feel for our team of sponsored NASCAR drivers grows,” said Wiley X Co-Owner Myles Freeman, Jr.  We’re excited about this big win for Matt and we know it’s the start of more great things to come,” added Freeman.
