Spark The Creative Agency fills a void in local
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 2/2/15
YUMA, ARIZONA – With a new year comes a new agency, the likes of which Yuma, AZ has never seen: a woman- and minority-owned, full-service integrated marketing and design firm that is locally-based but national in scope and reach. The three owners of Spark are web pioneer and author Aliza Sherman, Yuma County Chamber of Commerce 2015’s Ambassador Chair Janet Porter, and print and digital designer and entrepreneur Victoria Islas.
The three are joined by social media marketing expert Jon “Jonny Awesum” Porter and a diverse team of creative talent from Yuma and across the country and will move into new offices at 256 S. 2nd Avenue, Suite E, Yuma, AZ 85364 on Feb 1.
“After working the last three years as a client relations manager and social media marketer at a small local marketing company, I wanted to venture out on my own and build something bigger,” said Porter who, previous to working in marketing, spent 10 years as a bookkeeper for local Yuma businesses. “After working with Aliza, Victoria and my husband, Jon Porter, I realized that together we could build a company that did right by our clients and could help take their businesses to the next level.”
“I’ve made Yuma my home, and am proud and excited to start a new business venture here to serve both local and national clients,” said Sherman who first went online in 1987 and began her career as a digital marketing strategist in the early 1990s in New York City. Sherman started the first woman-owned Internet company, Cybergrrl, Inc.
Sherman will serve as CEO for the new company, with Janet Porter as President, and Jon Porter, formerly of Media Management, LLC - the marketing company he founded in 2011 - as COO. Islas will serve as Chief Creative Officer.
Sherman is the author of 10 books including Social Media Engagement for Dummies and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Crowdsourcing. In 1995, Newsweek named her one of the “Top People Who Matter Most on the Internet,” Hispanic Magazine named her one of “100 Most Influential Hispanics” in 2000, and in 2009, Fast Company listed her as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Technology.”
