Strava Unveils Improved Photo Sharing, ‘My Recent Efforts’ and Improved Leaderboards

SAN FRANCISCO (March 25, 2015) — Strava, the premier digital community of global athletes, has updated its acclaimed app to connect, motivate and inspire athletes like never before. Available for download today, the updated app (version 4.4) includes new and improved features designed exclusively for mobile devices.

Strava Photos: Athletes can now attach photos to their activities directly from their mobile camera app or photo album. To date, Strava athletes have shared almost 12 million photos—2.2 million images in January 2015 alone—by linking their Instagram and Strava accounts. Strava’s improved photos feature will enable athletes to seamlessly share a visual story of their rides, runs, and other sport activities with as many photos as they choose at any time they wish.

My Results: Building on the success of the recently launched Matched Runs feature, My Results allows runners and cyclists to analyze and compare their past segment performances directly from a mobile device. My Results makes it easier than ever for athletes to analyze their activities, track progress over time and find motivation to train.

Improved leaderboards: Redesigned mobile leaderboards give athletes easier access to segment rankings among the athletes they follow, their Clubs and the entire Strava community. Strava Premium athletes can now also access personalized leaderboards from their mobile devices, allowing quick comparisons to other Strava athletes of similar weight or age.

“Version 4.4 really enhances the Strava mobile experience for our athletes,” says chief product officer Aaron Forth. “Strava Photos adds more depth and imagery to the stories Strava athletes tell one another through their activities. My Recent Efforts and the improved leaderboards will enable athletes using smartphones to track their progress over time, while also seeing how their performances stack up among the athletes and Clubs they follow. All of the new and updated features are elegantly designed and integrated into the app. Version 4.4 has exciting new features while still providing an intuitive and engaging experience.”
