Las Vegas — The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance welcomes five community leaders to its board of directors.

On May 1, 2014, the LVGEA board of directors took unanimous action to elect five community leaders to join the board. These new members will help continue to build public and private sector relationships to bolster a new economy in southern Nevada for long-term economic sustainability. The new board members are:

-John S. Delikanakis, partner with Snell & Wilmer’s commercial litigation group

-John Guedry, president and chief operating officer of Bank of Nevada

-Michael Richards, president and CEO of the College of Southern Nevada

-Donald Snyder, acting president of the University of Nevada Las Vegas

-Frank Woodbeck, executive director of the Nevada College Collaborative

“These Southern Nevada leaders add value to our board of directors and provide expertise in key areas related to economic development,” said Missy Young, chairman of the LVGEA board of directors and executive vice president of colocation at Switch. “We’re especially fortunate to add three higher education leaders to our board of directors, further strengthening ties between regional economic development and the institutions that provide a quality workforce for Southern Nevada. We have also added diversity in legal and financial expertise to our board.”

Two new members of the board are returning to the board as they transition to new roles in the community. Snyder was the former chairman of the board of LVGEA’s predecessor, the Nevada Development Authority. Woodbeck served on LVGEA’s board of directors as the former director of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

"We are pleased to welcome, and in some cases re-welcome, these talented individuals to our board of directors," said Tom R. Skancke, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. "Each new appointee to the board brings a diverse wealth of knowledge and experience to this organization. These are experts in education, law, and finance, and, more importantly, they have done tremendous work for this community, and we are fortunate to have them on our board of directors."
