Hattie Larlham Donors Raise More Than $55,000 on Giving Tuesday

(TWINSBURG, Ohio) Dec. 4, 2014 – On Giving Tuesday, Dec. 2, Hattie Larlham supporters kicked off the holiday giving season by donating $55,755 to people with developmental disabilities. Giving Tuesday 2014 marked the second year Hattie Larlham participated in the national day of giving. The organization raised 64.5 percent more than 2013. All funds raised support programs for people with developmental disabilities at Hattie Larlham.

Leading up to Giving Tuesday, Hattie Larlham’s social media campaign across Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn encouraged supporters to donate and inspire their friends to do the same. In addition to the money raised by individual donations, one generous contributor matched donations up to $15,000.

As part of Giving Tuesday, volunteers from Turner Construction, Darko Inc. and Hiram College spread holiday cheer to Hattie Larlham residents and program participants. The companies participated in holiday decorating, delivering gifts and singing Christmas carols.

“The success of Hattie Larlham’s Giving Tuesday campaigns over the last two years shows how much can be accomplished when people unite to support a cause,” said Hattie Larlham Chief Development Officer Catherine Schwartz. “The funds raised for Hattie Larlham on Giving Tuesday and throughout this holiday giving season make a real difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities.”

In recognition of the success of the organization’s Giving Tuesday campaign from 2013, Hattie Larlham’s communications team is receiving a Cleveland Rocks Award from the Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) on Fri., Dec. 5.

To build on the momentum of the giving movement, Hattie Larlham is encouraging online donations throughout the holiday season at www.hattielarlham.org.
