Local companies, Dagger kayaks and Nantahala Outdoor Center, make lemonade-stand dreams a reality for Robbinsville youth paddler

GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 28, 2016) – Greenville-based kayak company, Dagger, and local outdoor recreation center, Nantahala Outdoor Center, made a dream come true today for 8-year-old, Abby Wehr, of Robbinsville, N.C. Dagger athlete, and renowned female whitewater kayaker, Adriene Levknecht, surprised Abby with a custom Dagger kayak at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), the premier destination for outdoor recreation in the Southeast.

Abby, a young paddling enthusiast had her sights set on a new Dagger kayak. Her passion for the sport carried over to her business strategy: selling lemonade to fellow paddlers and her community.

“We were incredibly moved by Abby’s story and wanted to make her dreams come true,” said Ashley Galloway, marketing manager for Dagger kayaks. “Her hard work speaks volumes of her love for the sport that is so dear to our community.”

Dagger worked in partnership with the NOC to coordinate a surprise gifting to Abby. A custom, one-of-a-kind, magenta Axiom 6.9 kayak was developed and produced by Dagger designer Mark “Snowy” Robertson at the company’s Greenville, S.C. headquarters this month.

Levknecht presented the kayak along with Chris Hipgrave, general manager of the Paddlesport and Outdoor School, NOC. “This is way better than my old boat, I am so excited to paddle it tonight,” Abby said, after receiving her new Dagger kayak.
