Registration for Steamboat Stinger Opens Today

(Steamboat Springs, Colo.) April 11, 2014 - Honey Stinger, the leading manufacturer of honey-based nutritional products, opens online registration today at high noon MST for the fourth annual Steamboat Stinger race weekend online on Honey Stinger's homepage. The weekend of racing will feature the popular 50-mile mountain bike race in addition to a challenging trail marathon in Honey Stinger's home of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, August 16 and 17.

Competitors of the mountain bike race can choose between racing in the solo category or in teams of two and runners have a choice between a full and half marathon. The mountain bike course is comprised almost exclusively of singletrack trails on Emerald Mountain. The marathon will follow a similar route. Honey Stinger will again offer the King Sting and Queen Bee categories that require racers to compete in both the 50 mile solo mountain bike competition and full marathon events, battling for lowest total time.

“The Steamboat Stinger is our way of celebrating everything that Honey Stinger is about, on amazing trails right in our own backyard,” says Honey Stinger marketing director Len Zanni. “We're excited to challenge our friends, neighbors and loyal fans with a weekend of great competition and festivities benefiting several local organizations.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit three local entities including youth mentoring organization Partners in Routt County and the local IMBA chapter, Routt County Riders.

Entry fees for the mountain bike race are $90 for solo and $150 for duo. The marathon will cost $65 for the full and $40 for the half. Entry to the King Sting and Queen Bee competition is set at $150. Field limits are set at 500 cyclists and 400 runners so competitors are encouraged to register early to secure a spot.
