Siborg Systems Inc. has released a new video demonstrating the latest model in the Smart Tweezers line of LCR-meters, the ST-5S. The video shows customers Smart Tweezers' capabilities when testing and troubleshooting Surface Mount Technology.
To demonstrate the newest model in the Smart Tweezers line, the ST-5S, Siborg has released a video showing the device in action. The device tests multiple components of different types and values showing how Smart Tweezers doesn't require any set-up in between measurements. The menus are also shown, showcasing the many features and functions of Smart Tweezers.
Smart Tweezers from Siborg Systems Inc. are an instantly recognizable device; the combination of a set of sharp, gold-plated tweezers combined with an LCR-meter is the perfect device for testing and troubleshooting electronics with Surface Mount Technology or SMT. Surface Mount Technology uses tiny components that are mounted directly to a PCB. Using conventional bench type testers to test SMDs can be frustrating and time consuming, using long wire leads as probes and having to stop and set-up for the next measurement. Smart Tweezers is a smart solution to these problems. By grasping a component between the tweezers, Smart Tweezers is able to determine the type of component and best test signal and frequency to use before measuring for Inductance, Capacitance or Resistance as well as secondary values like the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR). All of the evaluation details are instantly displayed, including the component type, measurement value, test parameters and secondary values.
The Smart Tweezers menus allow users to select more specific test conditions, or setting functions like the semi-automatic offset subtraction feature, or changing device settings like flipping the orientation of the screen for left-handed users. When in use, users can quickly change the test frequency and the test mode by pressing directionally on the button instead of accessing the menus.
Smart Tweezers have proven that they are a efficient and accurate device, with a basic accuracy of 0.2%. They offer more features than other similar devices available, features including:

Siborg offers a "budget" model of Smart Tweezers, the LCR-Reader. This device was designed for non-professionals in mind; customers who want a Smart Tweezers-like device with high accuracy (1% basic accuracy) and speed, but with a lower pricepoint. Retailing for under $200, LCR-Reader offers users a fully automatic device with a few less features than Smart Tweezers. To achieve the price, Siborg omitted component sorting, offset capabilities, continuity and diode testing, and adjustable test signals and frequencies.
