Big Agnes Integrates Premium Insulation for Apparel Launch

(Steamboat Springs, Colo.) – As one of the world’s leading tent, sleeping bag and pad manufacturers, Big Agnes knows a thing or two about keeping people warm. At this month’s Outdoor Retailer Winter Market tradeshow, Big Agnes will debut its 2014 apparel collection, which features premium insulation from DownTek™ and Pinneco Core® in the line of supremely warm and functional jackets, vests and skirts.

“We have been committed to perfecting the insulation technology in our sleeping bags for over a decade,” comments Bill Gamber, Big Agnes co-founder and president. “Incorporating all that research and design into a line of insulted apparel is a logical extension of our business and the result is a high-performance offering that is unique in the category.“

In its down collection, Big Agnes uses DownTek™ insulation, which is water resistant and stays warm even when wet. The DownTek™ is layered into each garment with Insotect Flow™ vertical baffles that improve heat retention and provide a more contoured fit than traditional horizontal baffles. One highlight from the down collection is the Men’s Third Pitch Hooded Jacket, an ultralight piece with a straight cut. It features 850-fill DownTek™ insulation and a lightweight, water-resistant shell to deliver incredible warmth and packability.

For its synthetic pieces, Big Agnes is the first company to use Pinneco Core® in apparel. The new synthetic insulation is designed to be more breathable, thermally efficient and sustainably engineered. Pinneco’s Core Screen™ resists water from the outside, while the Core Fusion™ technology seals the insulation like an air pump, actively drawing sweat from inside the garment and pulling it to the surface.

One of the marquee pieces of the synthetic collection is the Men’s Dunkley Belay Jacket, which offers maximum insulation with a full, straight cut.  It features Insotect Tubic™ construction, a unique tubular system engineered to deliver the maximum warmth-to-weight ratio. The 100 percent recycled polyester shell is wind-proof and water-resistant and the helmet-compatible hood makes it an ideal piece for staying warm at the crag or on the ski hill.

See the entire 2014 down and synthetic apparel collection at the Big Agnes booth (#4001) during the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, January 22-25 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
