France was officially appointed host country for the 21st climate conference (2015 Paris Climate Conference – COP21) during the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Warsaw.
COP21, also known as the ‘2015 Paris Climate Conference’, will be one of the largest international conferences ever held in France. This Conference is crucial because it must result in an international climate agreement enabling us to limit global warming to below 2°C.
Alliance Francaise Dubai has decided to join this initiative and to dedicate the year 2015 to Climate by organizing several events all along the year, in collaboration with the French Business Council (FBC).
First event on this theme is a Conference on January 12th, 2015 by French journalist and writer Frank Tetart ‘2015 Trends and Challenges, Global Warming Issues’.
Sustainable development, global warming, but also power relations, tensions and conflicts, globalization are all factors that Frank Tétart will present in a geopolitical panorama 2015, based on the maps of his last publication: “Grand Atlas 2015, 200 maps to understand the world” recently issued by French publisher Autrement.
The conference is the first of a serie of events organised all along 2015 with institutions, and personalities such as Sharjah University, The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, the French philosopher Cynthia Fleury, the photographer Nicolas Mingasson, the ‘Observatoire Photographique de l’Arctique’, OXFAM, The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), and also artists and movie makers working on this theme.
