On Fri., July 1 and Sat., July 2, more than 70 Clevelanders rappelled down the Westin Cleveland Downtown at Over the Edge for Hattie Larlham – a fundraiser to benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To kick off the thrilling event, Cleveland dignitaries, celebrities and community leaders descended the 22-story building at the preview event on July 1. The event featured a reception hosted by the Westin Cleveland Downtown and served beer from exclusive beverage sponsor, Market Garden Brewery.

Guest rappellers at the preview event included: Sara Shookman, anchor, WKYC Channel 3; Homa Bash, reporter, WEWS NewsChannel5; Rob Frost, chairman, Cuyahoga County Republican Party; Calvin Williams, chief, Cleveland Division of Police; Frank LaRose, Ohio Senator, District 27; Angelo Calvillo, chief, Cleveland Division of Fire; Keith Mrak, sous chef, Pura Vida; Martin Sweeney, Ohio Representative, District 14; Kevin Kelley, president, Cleveland City Council.

“Just as the city of Cleveland continues to reach new heights, the proceeds from this event allow Hattie Larlham to reach new heights in making advancements for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Wendy Voelker events manager at Hattie Larlham.

On July 2, 63 thrillseekers rappelled the downtown skyscraper. Rappellers included family members of the people Hattie Larlham serves, members of the community and Hattie Larlham work training employees. Sam McNulty, owner, Market Garden Brewery and Ciara Ahern, senior account executive, The Adcom Group, were special guest rappellers at Saturday’s main event.
