Monarch Cove Treatment Center for Eating Disorder Hosting Preferred Provider Conference

WHO:                  

Monarch Cove Treatment Center for Eating Disorders is hosting a Preferred Provider Conference for psychiatrists,counselors, physicians, nutritionists and other health care providers from around the country who treat eating disorders . . .

WHAT:                

. . . will come together to learn about “Love, Relationships and Attachment in the Treatment of Eating Disorders” during the Monarch Cove – Castlewood Treatment Center Conference .  Experts in the treatment of eating disorders will speak and provide information on approaches to help those who suffer from the disease transform to healthier lives.  Participants will also tour the new Monarch Cove – Castlewood Treatment Center facility and meet th experienced staff. . Renowned speakers include:

Anita Johnston, Ph.D.:  Director of the Anorexia & Bulimia Center of Hawaii and Clinical Director and Founder of the ‘Ai Pono Intensive Out-Patient Eating Disorders Programs in Honolulu.  Johnston also serves as a senior consultant to the Center for Eating Disorders at Focus Healthcare in Chattanooga, TN;  Moonpointe: A Focus Center for Eating Disorders,  in Knoxville, TN, and EATFED in Sydney Australia. 

Shari Corbitt, Ph.D.:  Licensed psychologist and specialist in the areas of eating disorders, chronic pain relief and dual diagnosis treatment who launched her own treatment facility in Agoura Hills, CA:  The Heart & Brain Institute for Healing (now known as Awakenings), in an effort to provide cutting-edge technologies with core recovery principles to men, women and adolescents with addictions, eating disorders, chronic pain and trauma.

Kenneth Perlmutter, Ph.D.:  Licensed clinical psychologist with 25 years of experience working with individuals and families on complex psychological and behavioral disorders.  Founder of The Family Recovery Institute which provides family healing workshops and trains clinicians in family systems recovery and  serves as Clinical Director for MindTherapy Clinic, a multi-site intensive outpatient program in San Francisco and Marin where his private practice is based.

Nancy Albus, LPC, CEDS:  CEO of Castlewood Treatment Center and its trusted affiliates, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) with extensive training and more than a decade of experience in eating disorders, intimacy, relationships, family therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy.
Laura Wood, LPC, RDT:  Primary therapist at Castlewood Treatment Center where she facilitates individual and group therapies with an emphasis on Drama Therapy and Counseling Wood serves on the board for the National Association of Drama Therapy as the Central Region Representative. .

Nicole Laby, MFT:  Psychotherapist with a specialization in eating disorders and a private practice in Berkeley, CA. Laby wrote and directed the documentary Erasing ED, which chronicles the successful eating disorder recovery stories of five of her former clients, and co-wrote the “Erasing ED Treatment Manual” with Sheira Kahn, MFT, and Avril Swan, M.D., as a companion to the film.

WHY:                   

The goal of Preferred Provider is to educate professionals about the strong clinical treatment program offered by Monarch Cove.   In addition, 11 clock hours of continuing education or (1.1CEU's) are available through the National Board of Certified Counselors, the American Psychological Association, The California Board of Behavioral Sciences and the National Association of Social Workers.
