LOS ANGELES (July 30, 2014) – Actress VIVIAN KERR is proving to be Hollywood’s newest ‘go-to’ young character actress landing 9 television roles in 18 months; her latest include Showtime’s highly-acclaimed MASTERS OF SEX and the CBS hit series CRIMINAL MINDS.
MASTERS OF SEX is based on the historical account of Dr. Masters (Michael Sheen) and his assistant, Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan), embarking on their pioneering study in human sexuality in the 1950’s. In the episode titled “Giants” scheduled to air on August 10th, Kerr steps-in as Ingrid McCaffrey, a young wife who turns to Dr. Masters for help with her husband.
Up next, Kerr takes her talents over to CBS for an upcoming episode of the mega-hit series, CRIMINAL MINDS. Heading into its 10th season, the series stars Joe Mantegna and Thomas Gibson, as part of an elite team of FBI profilers analyzing the country's most twisted criminals, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. In the episode currently scheduled to air on October 8th, Kerr joins in the drama as a distraught sister of their latest murder victim.
Kerr is excited by all the opportunities she been getting lately, explaining "It's been really incredible to go from set to set and work with these amazing, seasoned actors. Actors don't often book back-to-back jobs like this. I feel super lucky!"
Kerr has quickly built a solid resume and reputation in Hollywood for her work. In just the last 18 months, she has appeared in some of televisions biggest shows including: “Castle,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “American Horror Story: Asylum,” “Franklin & Bash,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and several memorable sketches on “The Tonight Show” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Previously, her film credits include IFC Midnight's horror thriller “The Den,” comedy short “The Assistant” with Janeane Garofalo, and period drama “Lines” about the Bronte sisters, which she also wrote and produced. Kerr has also gained enormous fans online as creator and star of the web series “We Are with the Band,” which screened at the Los Angeles Independent Television Festival.
The Sacramento, California native first made her way to Los Angeles in order to train, earning a BA in Theatre from the University of Southern California, and then headed to London to study Shakespeare at BADA. She has earned a nomination for an Ovation Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play, as well as LA Weekly and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards for her extensive work in the regional and Los Angeles theater scene. She is also trained in improv, sharpening her comedic skills at the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade and The Groundlings.
