Hattie Larlham invites community to annual Friendship Luncheon

On Fri., Aug. 19, Hattie Larlham hosts the second annual Friendship Luncheon. The event recognizes outstanding individuals, groups and businesses that empower and encourage people with disabilities to be part of the community. This year’s Friendship Luncheon is at the Hilton Garden Inn Twinsburg.

“This is an opportunity for Hattie Larlham to recognize those who support our mission each day,” said Events Manager Wendy Voelker. “We invite members of the community to attend and learn how their involvement makes a difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Organizations recognized this year include the Akron RubberDucks Baseball Club and TL Worldwide Transportation. Individuals and groups receiving awards include the Sugar Bush Golf Classic committee; Barb Davis, a Hattie Larlham employee; Sue Henry, a Hattie Larlham volunteer; and Melissa O'Connell and Craig Weatherly, Hattie Larlham work training graduates.

Receiving special recognition at the Friday luncheon are Hattie’s Heroes, a group of men and women who had a significant impact on the organization’s history.

The community is encouraged to attend. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets prices start at $35 each. Sponsorships and program book advertisement opportunities are available. The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 8971 Wilcox Drive. For more information, or to register online, visit
