He shares his experience with and advice on how to audition, how to book a job, and even how to deal with movie stars on a film set. "So You Want To Be A Dancer" is a must-read for any creative entrepreneur and/or aspiring artist pursuing a career in today’s social media-savvy society, or anyone who savors the heartfelt journey of an artist.
In conjunction with the anticipated book launch, Shaffer will host the first-ever “Day of Dance” at Broadway Dance Center (BDC) in New York City on March 29, 2015. The event will be part of BDC’s “Industry Insider” series, which puts dancers in direct contact with industry professionals and cutting-edge concepts. The event will include a mock audition led by Shaffer for a panel of dance professionals including choreographers, teachers, agents and working dancers. Participating dancers will receive personal feedback from Shaffer and the panel, and a general discussion. Immediately following the series, the public is invited to join the dancers to hear excerpts from the book read by the author, participate in a Q & A session, and attend the book signing. A copy of “So You Want To Be A Dancer” will be included in the $45 (plus taxes and fees) course price, and will also be available for purchase on-site.
“BDC is the perfect venue for my book launch. It’s the global dance epicenter, my ‘home away from home’ in New York City,” expressed Shaffer. “Broadway Dance Center is where I began collaborating with other artists, building bonds, cultivating connections and developing the lifelong friendships that have helped me succeed in New York City and beyond.”

If you are a dancer wanting to know more, I recommend you read this book!" -Mandy Moore, two-time Emmy Award nominated choreographer (So You Think You Can Dance)
