Jesse Anthony started his 2014 pro cycling season by taking first place in The Bariani Road Race, held March 16th in Northern California. Anthony was able to win in his second race of the season by a comfortable 30 second margin ahead of the second place rider, though it had been a tight race until near the final three miles of the 70 mile race.
"I am of course thrilled to get this year underway with a win," Anthony said. "Obviously I have been working hard to get ready for what I expect to be a strong season for my team and me, so it helps to start with a strong showing."
Anthony is a member of the Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies racing team. He has been with the team for a number of years and has amassed an impressive resume of races and wins, including being a former national cyclo-cross champion and finishing on the top of the podium in major international races, among his other successes. With the Amgen Tour of California looming in May, Anthony's next race is the Volta ao Alentejo in Portugal. Following his trip to Europe, he will compete in the Redlands Bicycle Classic from April 2nd-6th, which includes the Redlands Criterium Stage on Saturday, April 5th..
Anthony is managed by Harris Management.
