Hattie's Café & Gifts receives Proclamation of Recognition

On Wed., Jan. 21, Hattie’s Café & Gifts received a Proclamation of Recognition for its outstanding service to the Summit County Courthouse and the Summit County community. The proclamation was presented by Summit County Court of Common Pleas Judge Tammy O’Brien.

Hattie’s Café & Gifts has served the Summit County Courthouse employees and visitors for four years. The café serves freshly prepared sandwiches, snacks and fair trade coffee Monday thru Friday. Hattie’s Café & Gifts was also honored for providing employees with disabilities the “opportunity to empower their lives and giving them a sense of purpose and self-esteem in a professional and responsible manner.”

“We are so proud of our employees at the Summit County Courthouse Hattie’s Café & Gifts,” said Hattie Larlham VP of Vocational & Enterprise Services Dotty Grexa. “It is an honor for us to serve the Summit County community. Our employees work hard and this proclamation is well deserved.”

Hattie’s Café & Gifts is a Hattie Larlham work training program that employs people with developmental disabilities. The program employs more than 200 people at social enterprises which include Hattie’s Café & Gifts, Hattie’s Doggie Day Care & Boarding, Hattie’s Gardens, Hattie’s Vending and Hattie’s Assembly. Hattie Larlham also operates a job placement program which transitions people with developmental disabilities into competitive community employment.
