The following were questions presented to Laramie County City Council and mayoral candidates. Candidates answers are listed below.

In order to have the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce endorse a candidate, one must align with at least eight of the ten questions posed. Mayoral candidates that are officially endorsed by the Chamber are as follows:

1. Do you support streamlining current regulations to support business growth in Cheyenne considering concepts from documents such as the Uniform Code for Building Conservation?

Why is this important? Such streamlining is crucial in preventing the timely and costly burdens associated with development. Historic buildings are especially considered a difficult task for businesses to work around and we must be able to provide a solution for redevelopment of these important assets.

  • Gabriel Pina- "This is not a blanket all or none, you have to look through the codes and see which ones will fit our needs, I support business growth in Cheyenne, the Uniform Code for Building Conservation may not 100% fit Cheyenne's needs. We need to look at the codes the city has in place, and see if they need to be amended so it will provide safety for the residents,, but not detour people from wanting to build in Cheyenne."

    Why is this important? As the single largest economic driver of Cheyenne, the military is crucial for our economic future. We expect our elected officials to understand and support our military.

    Why is this important? The Chamber believes that modernizing liquor licenses in the State of Wyoming is important. We want our officials to understand the problems and work to move forward towards a more logical system.

    10. I believe in and will adhere to the "Enzi" principle- I can find common ground and agree with people 80% of the time.

    Why is this important? We believe it is extremely important for officials to be able to find common ground. The Enzi principle has worked great on the national level for policy and we believe this principle can work locally as well.
