Miami's Hall of Fame Coach Susan Summons Selected as Keynote Speaker for 2015 Sports Leadership Series Conference

Miami Dade College Women's Basketball Coach Susan Summons inspired as the keynote speaker for the 2015 Sports Leadership Series Conference on June 13th at Florida International University. The theme of her speech was Performance With A Purpose. 

The yearly SLSC conference is a Leadership & professional development event which offers coaches, trainers, as well as business and sports enthusiasts, valuable networking, team building, informative clinics, presentations, and panel discussions. "Coach Susan Summons came highly recommended to The Global Team last year by a colleague, Coach Alexander, a basketball coach from Alonzo Mourning High School, said Global Team Representative Youseline Poteau.

"He had the pleasure of attending a conference where coach Summons spoke and was very impressed. Unfortunately, last year her schedule was not available so we continued to follow her accomplishments in hopes she would be available this year. We are honored to have her be part of this year's conference!"

Presented by The Global Team and Athletic Development Group, the annual Sport Leadership Series Conference  highlighted a special presentation for attending coaches, powered by FIU's Team Ropes Adventure Challenge or TRAC Program. 

Summons is currently the head coach of the women’s basketball team and has made 22 FCCAA State Championship appearances with Miami Dade college teams. She is also a teacher, recruiter, administrator and community relations advocate, locally and internationally and has been recognized as one of the most respected women’s basketball coaches and educators in the United States.

Her energy, enthusiasm and dedication has helped her to have a far-reaching, positive influence on Miami Dade College and in the wider community. Areas in which her presence is felt include the Adjunct Faculty/Social Science department and the Department of Biology Health and Wellness. She is also founder of a non-profit organization, known as Best of the Rest Stars Inc., which provides basketball training for both girls and boys.

Susan Summons is a passionate, powerful nationally acclaimed international motivational speaker, radio personality, author, sports educator, hall of fame inductee both as player and coach, professor, master teacher, and speechwriter. A pioneer in the first Women’s Professional Basketball League, the WBL, drafted in the 3rd round by New Jersey Gems and played for the New England Gulls.
