How does Promoting Arts in Lander Schools (PALS) serve Lander? PALS’ primary goals are to cultivate and inspire lifelong interest in the arts through interactive exposure to high quality music, dance, theater, and visual arts programming. For the past 15 years a dedicated group of volunteers in Lander has provided financial resources and exposure to the arts for all of Lander’s schools, both public and private. Their efforts and commitment have broadened our students’ understanding and appreciation of the performing and fine arts.
How will your Challenge for Charities donation to PALS make a difference in Lander this year? Challenge for Charities funds will help to ensure Lander school students grades K-12 have opportunities for art immersion throughout the year. Artist workshops, residencies and performances are designed to broaden students’ world view, develop appreciation and awareness of various art forms, inspire individual pursuit of excellence and creative expression through the arts, facilitate different methods of learning, and support literacy, creativity and arts integration across the curriculum.
How else can you help PALS? Volunteers are welcomed to serve as Advisory Board members, Programming Committee members, and to facilitate outreach events. Assistance is also needed with publicity, photography, artist lodging, and fund-raising.
What else? In Lander, students in grades K-12 are immersed in the arts thanks in part to the dedication, support, and resources of PALS. In the 2013-14 school year, PALS provided over 12,000 student contact hours of arts outreach over more than 80 days of programming. Additionally, in January 2014, PALS began a new project, “Arts in the Afternoon”, in partnership with Lights On Lander to provide on-going art, music and dance instruction to students after school.
Challenge for Charities is a community fundraiser benefiting 35 nonprofits from May 1 - July 11, 2014.
The event also sponsors the July 4th Lander Half Marathon and 5 K run/walk and a 1-mile youth mad dash.
