GOLF, AUCTION AND CHARITY PUT MIRACLES IN MOTION
COLUMBIA, S.C. – In April, the Spring Valley County Club will host the fifth annual charity golf tournament and auction to raise scholarship funds for children attending The Therapy Place, the only nonprofit pediatric center in South Carolina.
The Spring Valley Country Club at 300 Spring Valley Rd. will host the event on April 22. Since 2008, The Therapy Place (TTP) has hosted its Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds to support its programs, which it uses to serve over 120 children and provide over 400 hours of therapy weekly. The Bridges program is a therapeutic early intervention program for children ages 2-5, runs from August to May and costs $1,000 monthly (www. http://thetherapyplace.org/bridges.html). The Therasuit Method program, an intensive therapy program that uses special equipment, is a three-week program that costs $4,500 (http://thetherapyplace.org/therasuitmethod.html). TTP also offers Bridges as part of a two-week summer camp.
A major sponsor is Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, a major health insurance provider, has supported the tournament since 2008. Ron Johnson Heating & Air, located in West Columbia, is a major sponsor this year, too. Past year’s sponsors include Ray Tanner Foundation and Forest Lake Gardens. Last year’s tournament raised over $24,000 with 41 teams of four playing 18-holes of golf and 35 volunteers helping on the day of the event.
The day’s events include golf with a morning tee off at 8:30 a.m. and an afternoon tee off at 1:30 p.m., a silent auction and lunch. Tickets for the auction and lunch can be purchased separately for $10 each. On Saturday, April 20, TTP will host a pre-event open house at 3620 Covenant Rd. location from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the auction and lunch will be available for purchase at this time (details at http://goo.gl/fGq8l). Additionally, there are various sponsorship levels still available including tournament-naming rights. Individuals are also encouraged to donate money or other items (http://tiny.tw/39rm.) During the tournament, TTP will also collect items for its rummage sale on May 4 (https://www.facebook.com/events/502943153084587/).
Media contact is Dawn Darby, who will be available at the club house.
