Bring on the heat with the 2016 tax credit for wood and pellet stoves

(Fremont County, Wyo.) - With the 2015 tax season well underway, many are thinking of ways to save in 2016 and our friends at Porter's Mountain View Supplyhave the answer! If you purchased a wood or pellet stove in 2015 or plan to purchase one this year, there is a tax credit available for you!

This federal tax credit encourages people to make energy-conscious purchases that improve the energy efficiency of their home. It is a $300 dollar-for-dollar tax credit for purchasing a qualifying biomass-burning stove between Jan. 1, 2015 - Dec. 31st, 2016 (biomass means the stove uses wood or pellet fuel). You can only claim the credit if you purchased a stove that is at least 75% efficient.
This tax credit is industry wide, so whether you buy your wood or pellet stove from Porter's or Timbuktu, you will be eligible to receive the credit. Make sure you save all receipts from your purchase and installation as well as the manufacturer certificate stating the stove is qualified for the tax credit! If you need help finding these items, the team at Porter's can help! For more information and FAQ's, click here.
