The following were questions presented to Laramie County legislative candidates. Candidates answers are listed below.

1. Do you support sustaining the Business Ready Community Grant Program?

Why is this important? The program is under the Wyoming Business Council umbrella and provides financing for publicly owned infrastructure that serves the needs of businesses, but most importantly, promotes economic development. Such projects funded by this program include business parks, water, sewer, streets, roads, landscape, recreation and so much more. This grant is a huge catalyst for economic development and is seen as a powerful resource statewide.

2. Do you support continued funding for Air Service Enhancement in Wyoming?

Why is this important? Aviation advancements can help diversify the economy  through it's ability to provide services for many exporting businesses, more opportunities for tourism, and increased opportunities for travel as a whole. Aviation is an important part of the transportation infrastructure for the State of Wyoming and needs to be a focus.

3. Do you support state funding for military facilities within Wyoming?

Why is this important? State funding of military missions ensures the strength of our National Guard and demonstrates Wyoming's commitment to  the Armed Services and the men and women who wear the uniform of our nation.

    4. Do you support the expansion of liquor licenses in the state of Wyoming?

    Why is this important? The responsible expansion of certain liquor licenses will increase commerce opportunities for local businesses and help new businesses in our communities. It should be noticed that any expansion should work to protect the interests of existing license holders. Additionally, an expansion in liquor licenses would allow for competition which contributes positively to the State's economic health.

        5. Do you support researching an appropriate amount for the LRSA (Rainy Day Fund) and will your votes support maintaining that amount and supporting infrastructure when the fund is over that amount?

        Why is this important? The LRSA is an important insurance policy for the State of Wyoming. However, savings without consideration of critical needs is irresponsible. An acceptable level needs to be established and overages need to be spent on infrastructure.

            6. Would you support legislation that funds early childhood development, education, and workforce training?

            Why is this important? By investing in early childhood development, education and workforce training (the lifeblood of any economy) is put in place early on. Without a talented and knowledgeable workforce, business recruitment and retention is difficult. The foundation for any diverse, prosperous, and healthy economy is the workforce. All education is a critical to developing and sustaining the optimal workforce for generations to come.

                      Why is this important? The Chamber believes that an employer's rights to ensure the health and safety of their customers is important. The screening of employees assurse employers that the best people are on the job.
