Sprint Family Fun Days Ice Cream Social, benefits Children’s Mercy Hospital on August 13

Event includes live music, arts and crafts, old-fashioned carnival games and more, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Kansas City Power & Light District

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 9, 2016) – The Kansas City Power & Light District is partnering with Children’s Mercy Hospital for their Sprint Family Fun Days, a kid-friendly event held every second Saturday of the month through October. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit Children’s Mercy Hospital. The next event will take place on Saturday, August 13 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on 14th Street between Main and Walnut Street in the Kansas City Power & Light District. Event partners include Oddball Kids, Kohl’s Cares Star Power, Creative Carnival and Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Event Details

Participating Kansas City Power & Light District venues will offer special food and drink offerings at their restaurants for the duration of the event. Children’s Mercy Hospital teamed up with Kohl’s to provide a large tent with arts and crafts for the kids, a program called Kohl’s Cares Star Power. Kids can create their arts and crafts under the tent with Children’s Mercy Hospital and take them home after the event. Additional activities include bounce houses and inflatables, live entertainment, arts and crafts directed by Oddball Kids, a cake walk, face painting, a trackless train and more. 

Cost

Admission is free for children and adults. Fees apply for premium activities. An all-access wristband is $5 per child and face painting tickets are $2 with purchase of all-access wristband or $5 without wristband.

o    Zero gravity – test your skills and knock the beach balls from their target that is magically suspended in the air.

o    Shark attack toss

o    Mad Science cotton candy machine

·         Free Activities

o    Balloon artists – get your favorite animal or balloon creation created with a balloon artist.

o    College basketball experience – “shoot a hoop” activity.

o    Cake walk – participating venues will offer a fun and free cake walk with dessert prizes throughout duration of event.

o    Bubble tent – see who can blow the biggest bubble under the bubble tent.

o    Kohl’s Star Power arts and crafts – Join charitable partner, Children’s Mercy Hospital, and create a free take home craft.

o    Mad Science – learn about the fundamental forces with activities such as balancing act, balancing bolts, Gyro Copters, Human Lazy Susan and Bike Wheel.

o    Eighteenth Hole – hit a puck in the goal to break the water balloon for a goal with the Missouri Mavericks. 

Family Festival Package ($25)

Guests can upgrade their family fun experience by purchasing a family festival pack that includes two all-access wristbands and a food and drink package including four hot dogs, two juice boxes, two waters, two fruit snacks, one bag of chips and one bag of pretzels from the Family Fun Food and Drink booth presented by McFadden’s Sports Saloon. Family festival packages must be purchased in advance on www.ticketfly.com.

Alamo Drafthouse

·         o      Free popcorn (valued at $6.50), with purchase of movie ticket

·         o     Free kids meal with adult entrée purchase

McFadden’s Sports Saloon

·         o     One free pint of Miller Lite or Coors Light draft beer with the purchase of a kid’s meal. Offer cannot be redeemed with other promotions or discounts. There will be one coupon for adults, which cannot be redeemed multiple times in one day.

Mema’s Bakery

·         o     Hotdog or hamburger with chips and a drink for $5. Popsicles available for $1.00 or two for $1.50. All cookies will cost $1.

Pizza Bar

·        o     Patio games and prizes. Slices of cheese pizza and pepperoni pizza will be available for $1 each.

Whopper Bar

·         o     Ice cream cones will be available for 50 cents

Flying Saucer

·        o     Free kids ice cream with purchase of entrée
