Leader in Merino Socks introduces lower volume silhouette, narrower heel cup to ski line
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 12, 2014) — No footwear requires a more precise sock fit than ski boots and SmartWool, the world’s leading snow, outdoor, and active lifestyle Merino sock and apparel company, is offering women tailored fit and ventilation in its new PhD® Ski sock collection.
Building on its 20-year history as the market driver in performance and lifestyle Merino socks, SmartWool is introducing women’s specific fit in its Spring 2015 PhD® Run line. Unlike other women’s socks, the women’s PhD® collection utilizes a lower volume silhouette and narrower heel pocket than its men’s counterpart. For its Fall 2015 collection, SmartWool is taking the women’s-specific fit to ski socks.
In addition to improved fit, female-friendly ventilation—as determined by thermal body mapping technology—mitigates heat and moisture through strategic mesh and elasticity placement. Body mapping also heavily influenced cushion placement on the socks, which not only helps regulate the internal climate of the boot, but also minimizes friction and impact.
“Whether pushing the limits of the sport like big mountain professional skier Angel Collinson or the U.S. Ski Team, or tackling groomers on an annual vacation, women need a ski sock designed keep them comfortable, warm and blister-free,” states SmartWool women’s performance product line manager Sara Yoder. “We’re delivering that in the new PhD® collection.”
Like all SmartWool® PhD® socks, the women’s ski line features the 4 Degree Elite™ fit system, which uses targeted elastics to improve stretch and recovery, and patented ReliaWool™ technology to improve durability. SmartWool stands behind its product with a 100-percent satisfaction guarantee.
For Fall 2015, the Women’s PhD® Ski sock will be available in seven styles, with Ultra Light, Light or Medium cushioning.
SmartWool will show the new Women’s PhD® Ski collection, and its full Fall 2015 line, at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, January 21-24 in Salt Lake City, and the SIA SnowShow, January 29-February 1 in Denver.
