A great horse racing match ahead will be that of the Belmont Stakes 2014 which happens on Saturday, June 07, 2014 to be held live at the Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, USA as California Chrome eyes the triple crown along with it's jockey Victor Espinoza were in the jockey of Triple Crown contender California Chrome already knows he is on the ride of his life. One triumphant lap around the enormous Belmont Park track in New York on Saturday is all that stands between him and a place in racing folklore. If California Chrome wins the Belmont Stakes, the 42-year-old Espinoza will be immortalized along with his mount as the first Triple Crown winner since 1978 and just recently, California Chrome has finished his final run-through before he goes for history and the Triple Crown in the Belmont Stakes as after the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, California Chrome will jog again early Saturday, about 13 hours before he tries to end a 36-year Triple Crown drought with a victory in the 1 1/2-mile Belmont. The race, nicknamed The Test of the Champion, is the third and final leg of the U.S. Triple Crown. It follows five weeks after the Kentucky Derby, and three weeks after the Preakness Stakes, on a Saturday between June 5 and June 11. The 1973 Belmont Stakes and Triple Crown winner Secretariat holds the mile and a half stakes record (which is also a track and world record on dirt) of 2:24. The son of a Mexican goat farmer, Espinoza was terrified of horses when he was a young child but learnt to ride on a donkey, which, purely by coincidence, is the emblem on California Chrome's racing silks. The attendance at the Belmont Stakes ranks fourth in North America, and typically trails only the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Kentucky Oaks. The 2004 Belmont Stakes drew a television audience of 21.9 million viewers, and had the highest household viewing rate since 1977 when Seattle Slew won the Triple Crown and the 146th running of the Belmont Stakes will take place tomorrow and California Chrome will have the chance to complete the third leg of the Triple Crown after his victories in the 2014 Kentucky Derby and the 2014 Preakness Stakes.
