Vermont Public Radio will broadcast a live gubernatorial debate on Tuesday, September 23 at 7 p.m.
Hosts Bob Kinzel and Jane Lindholm will moderate a 90-minute debate among Democratic incumbent Peter Shumlin, Republican Scott Milne, and Libertarian Dan Feliciano.
The debate, which will air statewide on the stations of Vermont Public Radio and online at VPR.net, is a key milestone leading up to Vermont’s November 4 General Election. During the debate, Kinzel and Lindholm will ask the candidates questions and then the candidates will question each other directly.
The debate will also feature questions from Vermonters, who are encouraged to submit questions of the candidates in advance of the debate. People can record a question by calling at (802) 552-3425, or use the voice memo feature on a smart phone and send the file to firstname.lastname@example.org.
"VPR is looking forward to providing voters with the opportunity to compare the leading candidates head to head," said Patti Daniels, producer of VPR’s election debates. "Debates sharpen and clarify issues, and let voters observe the candidates thinking on their feet. We're glad to provide that public service."
VPR will provide Twitter updates throughout the debate @vprnet and will post extensive audio links from the debate at VPR.net after the broadcast concludes.
Media access at the debate site is limited, but members of the press are asked to contact Daniels for details, email@example.com or 802-654-4330.
