On the Road: Safety First!

Driving with kids in the backseat can be a lot of things; entertaining, loud, exciting, nerve-racking… the list goes on. As good or bad as your kids’ behaviour may be on departure day, road trips with wee ones are distracting. It’s always important to plan ahead of your family road trip – no matter how long, how short or how seamless you anticipate the trip to be.

You may not be able to control your kids’ behaviour, but you can control these three things before setting off.

Car Maintenance is key. Summer weather can be hard on your mechanical equipment so make sure everything is tickety-boo before even thinking about a road trip. And while you’re at it, make sure that your AC is in fine form; otherwise your family might never forgive you.

ZZZZZ: It’s imperative that you’re well rested before hitting the open road. Sleepy drivers become frazzled and less attentive much faster than those who got to bed on time the night before.

Emergency Preparedness: Make sure to always have lots of water, a complete first-aid kit and a flashlight (in case you break down at night). Have a cell phone charger for your car, in case of emergencies. Here are some products that we recommend: http://shopsafetyproducts.ca/products.php?sid=1&cid=4

Now that you’re all set and ready to go, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
