Alliance Francaise Dubai is proud to host the exhibition "The Mural for The Peace" from March 16 to 19, 2015 in its Oud Metha location.
The Mural For The Peace, organized by the Museum of the Americas in Doral, Florida, is formed by 108 small size artworks by artists from 40 countries.
The Mural for The Peace is a traveling show that will be taken to as many countries as possible. Starting in Houston (Texas) where the International Office of the Museum of the Americas is located, the exhibition first stopover will be Dubai.
This artistic project was initiated in March 2014 by Dr. Raul Oyuela, Museum of Americas Director on a visit to Art Dubai. Once back home (Houston, USA), Dr. Raul Oyuela and his team called out to more than 3,000 artists worldwide for 'The Mural for The Peace' show. The first artworks were then received in December 2014.
The Mural is formed with 8x8 inches (approx. 20×20 centimeters) of various art pieces, techniques which vary from photography, digital art, textiles, sculptures and graphic art.
Dr. Raul Oyuela says: "The idea of 'The Mural for The Peace' came to me as I was visited Dubai Art Fair 2014. I thought it would be interesting to present some work of art done by many artists from more than 40 countries in these difficult times. All of us love PEACE and we consider the United Arab Emirates a peaceful country that opens the doors to everyone. This was my fourth visit to Dubai and on each visit I had the opportunity to see many wonderful things and very kind and nice people there. Dubai is today a first class attraction and we decide to show The Mural for The Peace during the ART DUBAI week."
Bernard Frontero, Alliance Francaise Dubai Director, says “ We are honored to host The Mural for Peace exhibition. Dialog between cultures has always been one of the pillars of Alliance Francaise. It’s by mutual understanding and communication that we will able to built a lasting peace all over the world.”
Dr. Raul Oyuela will attend the show opening at Alliance Francaise Dubai on March 16. He will be traveling with a delegation of 21 members of the Museum of the Americas, amongst them will be 12 artists whose artworks are part of the Mural.
