In the Zone at the NAHB International Builders’ Show

High Performance Building Zone welcomes record numbers to its stage with nine presentations in three days

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – If there’s one truth that everyone in the construction industry can agree on, it’s that builders learn by doing.

With that in mind, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) joined forces with Winstanley Partners, a marketing and creative agency with a specialty in live event production, for the second year to produce the High Performance Building Zone at the 2015 NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS).

One of the newest draws at IBS, the High Performance Building Zone allows attendees to learn more about high performance building concepts, glean specific tips and techniques, and view installation demonstrations of various energy-efficient products. Cheryl Lewis, vice president with Winstanley Partners, explained that energy codes change frequently and are different from state-to-state. It can be difficult for building professionals to stay on top of codes, and the products and techniques necessary to meet them.

“These demonstrations will show builders how to achieve various specific energy goals, while at the same time introduce new products and practices to custom builders, framers, siding installers, code officials, production builders and others in the residential building market, keeping them a step ahead,” she said.

Lewis noted that nationally acclaimed building scientist Gord Cooke signed on to address best practices and benefits of high-performance building – essentially, the ‘why’– while award-winning energy-efficient builders and instructors Walt Tomala and Rob Sherwood demonstrate the ‘how’ through interactive product demonstrations.

“Each day focuses on a specific aspect of high-performance construction,” she added, “and all components, from wall assemblies to window installation and insulation, will be on display throughout the week to offer a ‘whole house’ view.”

The High Performance Building Zone recorded more that 1,600 attendees on Day One of the show this year, and will return to IBS in 2016 from January 19 to 21. For more information, visit
