Also Recurs in Hallmark’s New TV Series ‘CHESAPEAKE SHORES’ and Appears in French Canadian Film ‘PAYS’
LOS ANGELES (July 19, 2016) – Veteran character actor SERGE HOUDE shows his true stripes opposite Kevin Spacey in Barry Sonnenfeld’s new cat-comedy, NINE LIVES, releasing nationwide on August 5th by EuropaCorp.
This family film revolves around Tom Brand (Spacey), a billionaire businessman whose workaholic lifestyle often takes him away from his loving wife (Jennifer Garner) and daughter. When a bizarre turn of events traps Tom inside the body of a seemingly harmless cat, this absentee Dad must reconnect with his family or live out the rest of his days as the cute and furry feline, Mr. Fuzzypants. Houde joins the storyline as Senior Board Member Norman Stein, opposite Spacey, Mark Consuelos and Robbie Amell, leading a secret scheme at Tom’s Firebrand company.
Houde was excited by the opportunity to work with such a talented group, “After Kevin Spacey and I did the first take, Director Barry Sonnenfeld quietly walked by me and whispered ‘Give it to him.’ So in the next take, I raised my intensity and Spacey’s eyes instantly lit up and he began filling the room with a roar of energy. I was awestruck! Look what he just did with that line! The twist he gave that word. Did you see that look? Then a sinking feeling came over me: Hey, I have more lines coming up here -- Stay Focused! That had never ever happened to me before in all my career.”
Up next on August 14th, Houde is set to recur on Hallmark Channel’s newest drama series, Chesapeake Shores. Based on Sherryl Woods’ novels, the multi-generational series follows high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother Abby Winter (Meghan Ory), who re-assess her life when she returns to her hometown, Chesapeake Shores. Houde steps in as Del Granger, the encouraging Office Manager who eventually proves a mentor to Abby. The series also stars Jesse Metcalfe, Treat Williams and Diane Ladd.
Then later this fall, Houde stars opposite Emily VanCamp in the French Canadian dramatic feature, Pays. From rising filmmaker Chloé Robichaud, the film follows Emily Price (VanCamp) as she attempts to balance family life with leading crunch negotiations between a Canadian politician and the president of a country whose natural resources are being exploited.
Houde has built a solid career in the industry with over 200 credits under his belt. Millions of Hallmark fans recognize Houde from his role as Judge Roy Parker in Season Two of the networks award-winning western drama series, When Calls The Heart. Other notable roles include his guest-starring appearances on AMC’s hit shows The Killing and Hell On Wheels and on the CW’s smash-hit, iZombie. He also earned high-praise for his appearance as the volatile Mafia Boss ‘Sam Giancana’ in the mini-series The Kennedys. On the big screen, he is remembered as Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s Alzheimer’s stricken Dad in the Golden Globe nominated drama 50/50, also starring and produced by Seth Rogen.
