Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture Participates in Flipping Boston’s Home Renovation for Survivors of Boston Marathon Bombings

Norton, MA, April 23, 2014 – When Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture was asked by Flipping Boston to furnish the newly renovated, handicapped accessible home for Boston Marathon bombings survivors Paul Norden and Jacqui Webb, the answer was a resounding “Yes.”  On April 26, 2014, Paul and Jacqui’s new home in Stoneham, MA – complete with almost $10,000 of new living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture courtesy of Bernie & Phyl’s – will be unveiled for the first time on Flipping Boston.

Paul and his fiancée Jacqui were with a group of friends cheering on runners near the Boston Marathon finish line when the second of the two bombs exploded on April 15, 2013.  Paul and his brother J.P. each lost a leg in the blast, and Jacqui suffered severe injuries to her right leg, burns on her hands, and numerous shrapnel wounds.

The home renovation project was undertaken by real estate reality show Flipping Boston and the A&E network shortly after the Marathon bombings.  Flipping Boston secured donated materials, the contractors donated their labor, and A&E donated funds for the project.  The transformation of the house can be seen on the “Flipping Boston Strong” episode, which airs on A&E on April 26, 2014 at noon.

“We are honored to be a part of the ongoing community effort to help the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings rebuild their lives,” said Rob Rubin of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture.  “Bernie & Phyl’s has strong roots in Massachusetts, and we are happy that we can do our part to make a difference.”
