NodeCopter.js hackathon event pits professional coders and designers against each other in quadcopter hacking contest
Boulder, Colo., June 20, 2014 – SparkFun and fellow Boulder-based companies QuickLeft, RefactorU and Human Design recently announced the NodeCopter.js Hackathon, a fun international event where five teams will compete for a chance at hacker glory.
In the event, five developer teams from the community will receive one Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 and spend the day programming and hacking with it. At the end of the day, each team gets to present their hacks to the other attendees.
“We are very excited to see the NodeCopter.js event at this year's AVC,” said SparkFun Technical Designer and hackathon planner Pamela Cortez. “It is a great way for developers and students in the community to get together to hack on some cool hardware and have a chance to win great prizes.”
The hackathon will take June 21st, 2014 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. during SparkFun’s sixth annual autonomous vehicle competition, an event where competitors from across the globe gather in a time-trial style aerial and ground race for autonomous robots.
In addition to the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 which the teams get to keep, prizes include SparkFun Inventor’s Kits for Arduino, multiple $100 SparkFun gift certificates and more. Entries will be judged based on presentation, level of completion and technical implementation, and originality and creativity of the hack.
The competitors for the hackathon are teams from RefactorU, Human Design, Tinker Mill, Monarch High School and Warren Tech.
Quick Left is a proud supporter of STEM programs and a 2014 sponsor of Monarch High School's Robotics team annually and for the NodeCopter event.
