LAS VEGAS – The Priefert World Series of Team Roping, the third richest equestrian and richest team roping event in the world, returns to South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa Monday, Dec. 7 through Sunday, Dec. 13 to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a $10.3 million prize pool.
“South Point has always been an advocate of promoting the growth of rodeo events such as the World Series of Team Roping,” said South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa General Manager Ryan Growney. “Over the past ten years, we have seen tremendous growth in this competition and we look forward to what the future holds as the event continues to expand and offer new opportunities for the sport and those involved.”
Returning to South Point Hotel for the 10th consecutive year, the event runs concurrently with the 2015 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR). The World Series Finale offers a rare opportunity for amateurs to win large cash prizes that exceed those available to professionals. In 2014, the World Series Finale paid out more than S10 million in cash and $250,000 in prizes to become the third richest horse event in the world. The large cash purses exceed $1 million in several divisions, and this year will break the single division record by paying over $2 million in its #10 Finale. Throughout the week, more than 120,000 spectators are anticipated to attend the World Series Finale while over 3,500 cowboys and cowgirls compete for a shot at the champion purse.
The World Series Finale is a direct result of 100,000 teams competing in sanctioned events during the year in the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy and the Czech Republic. Team roping boasts the largest economical component of the recreational horse world, producing over $60 Million in purses each year. Excluding horse racing, the combined purses of the various team roping associations surpass all other horse events combined.
