The Chris Klug Foundation’s Leadville Trail 100 MTB team set to compete on August 9th

Aspen, CO, July 30, 2014 – The Chris Klug Foundation has a team of twenty-two riders competing in the Leadville Trail 100 MTB Race on August 9. The Leadville Trail 100 is a bucket list race for riders across the world. Through its partnership with Life Time Fitness’s charity program, CKF secured 18 race entries. “Given the huge popularity of the Leadville 100, CKF is incredibly fortunate to offer our riders guaranteed entry into the race” said CKF Executive Director, Beth Slater. “Each rider raises a minimum of $2,750 to join team CKF. Our most successful team member in terms of fundraising, Esther Blom-Geiser, has brought in over $8,800 to date!”

Founder and Chairman of CKF, Chris Klug, will be riding for team CKF for the fourth year in a row. “We have such an incredible group this year; I’m so proud to race together with my teammates.  I’m grateful for all of our team members hard work to share the message of donation and help raise funds for CKF, so that we can continue or life-saving outreach nationwide,” said Chris.

In addition to raising critical funds for CKF, team riders will be raising awareness about the importance of organ & tissue donation. The foundation will host a booth at the race expo on Friday, August 8. There will also be a team send-off hosted by 520 Grill in Aspen on Wednesday, August 6 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

CKF’s participation in the race would not be possible without its valued sponsors: Janckila Construction, Withum Smith + Brown, Le Cercle, the Limelight Hotel, 520 Grill, and Infinit Nutrition. The team is also grateful to Honey Stinger and Aspen 82 for their continued support.

Becoming a registered organ & tissue donor is a way to have a lasting legacy, and it’s as simple as going to www.chrisklugfoundation.org to sign up.  For more information on this event or on the Chris Klug Foundation please contact Beth Slater at (970) 618-7120.

The Chris Klug Foundation and its Donor Dudes program host dozens of events across the country throughout the year. Upcoming events include the Vans Warped Tour at various locations across the country through August, and the US Pro Cycling Challenge August 18-24 at the tour’s stops across Colorado. CKF’s largest event of the year, the 9th Annual Aspen Summit for Life weekend will take place December 5-6, 2014.

The Chris Klug Foundation is a 501(c)3 dedicated to promoting lifesaving organ & tissue donation and improving the quality of life for those touched by donation.
