RED ANTS PANTS FOUNDATION GRANT CYCLE, TIMBER SKILLS WORKSHOP, AND LINEUP PARTY SCHEDULED

The Red Ants Pants Foundation is excited to announce the opening of the third annual Community Grant Cycle. Funded by the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, the Red Ants Pants Foundation is accepting applications for projects from across the region that further the Foundation's mission of developing and expanding leadership roles for women, preserving and supporting working family farms and ranches, and enriching and promoting rural communities.

Last summer, $12,000 in grants were awarded.  The application cycle is open now and will continue until April 30th. Applications and the list of the 2013 grant recipients are available on the newly launched Red Ants Pants Foundation website: www.redantspantsfoundation.org.

Grant winners will be announced the week of the festival, July 24th-27th in White Sulphur Springs.  For more information about the Community Grant Cycle, contact Sarah Calhoun, 406-600-3986 or email sarah@redantspants.com.

Registration is also open for the Red Ants Pants Foundation Timber Skills Workshop, June 5th-8th.  The three day course in White Sulphur Springs is designed for beginning to intermediate chain-saw users. Whether it is for a career choice (trail crews, conservation corps, wildland firefighting, Forest Service, etc.) or home ownership (firewood cutting, yard maintenance, land clearing, etc.), knowing how to work with wood and use the related hand and power tools is a valuable skill.  The course will give an overview of technical timber skills and equipment.   Topics include: chainsaw features and maintenance, safety, basic felling, bucking and limbing techniques, cross-cut saw and axe use, saw-mill education, and basic timber construction skills.  Open to women and men; no experience necessary.  There are only 12 spots available.  The fee is $300 and covers meals, course equipment, materials, and instruction.  More information and the online application available at www.redantspantsfoundation.org.

The Foundation would like to thank everyone for the continued support of these projects, as well as the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, which provides the funding for both the grant cycle and timber skills workshop.

The 2014 Lineup Announcement Party will be held Saturday, April 5th, at the Red Ants Pants shop in White Sulphur Springs, 206 East Main Street starting at 7 pm.

Unable to attend the Announcement Party?  You will also be able to live stream the lineup announcement, the link will be available on the music festival's Facebook page.
