Organization to Build 50 Free-Standing Libraries For

Chicago Neighborhoods

MINNEAPOLIS (October 1, 2014) Instead of gathering clients and vendors to network over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, Plus Relocation Services (Plus) is once again partnering with its peers to give back to the local community hosting the Worldwide ERC® Global Workforce Symposium.

Plus is a global mobility management company that works with organizations to relocate their talent worldwide. Three years ago, the company started to look for meaningful ways to spend its time and resources at the bi-annual industry conference. Since 2011, Plus has come together with its competitors and suppliers at seven Worldwide ERC® conferences to compile more than 40,000 kits that include hygiene products, art supplies, socks and snacks. These kits have been distributed to youth organizations based in the host city of the conference, including Las Vegas, Denver, San Antonio, Washington D.C., San Diego, Dallas and Orlando.

On October 8th, Plus will once again gather a team, representing over 60 global organizations, to build 50 free-standing libraries. The libraries will be placed in impoverished neighborhoods throughout Chicago following the conference.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Little Free Library, as well as our peers in the relocation industry, to build these libraries that we hope will become positive fixtures in the Chicago community for years to come,” said Susan Schneider, president of Plus Relocation Services. “This is truly a collaborative effort that involves individuals from around the globe who are offering their time and resources to make this a reality.”

Little Free Library is a non-profit organization in Wisconsin that promotes literacy through free book exchanges via free-standing wood structures that are placed in residential areas. Visitors to the libraries are encouraged to “take a book and/or return a book.”

“Little Free Library is a perfect partner for this effort,” Schneider said. “Not only does it promote reading among all ages but it builds a sense of community in neighborhoods around the world.”

This is the eighth community outreach event that Plus has hosted in conjunction with the Worldwide ERC® bi-annual meetings.
