Kansas City is only the second market to introduce the Kickstarter-funded invention
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 20, 2015) – A new, trendsetting cocktail invention is now available exclusively in Kansas City at Bristol Seafood Grill. The Porthole, a cocktail infusion vessel created by a Chicago entrepreneurial designer, will debut today, Wednesday, May 20 at Bristol Seafood Grill’s downtown Kansas City location, as well as at its sister location in Chicago, Devon Seafood Grill. The launch at these two restaurants is the first time The Porthole will be available outside of Chicago’s The Aviary, a wildly popular cocktail lounge that served as the testing facility for The Porthole during its design and production stages.
A Kickstarter success story, The Porthole is the invention of Martin Kastner of Crucial Detail, a Chicago-based design agency. Inspired by the 1958 movie “The Fabulous World of Jules Verne,” Kastner created The Porthole as a way for the bar chefs to create “fast infusions” – cocktails that evolve during the brief course of time it takes to serve them. The Porthole holds up to 13 fluid ounces, measures six inches in diameter and is held together by a single screw. Since its public debut last year, The Porthole has been featured in many prominent media outlets, including on the cover of Food Arts magazine.
Bristol Seafood Grill will introduce a different Porthole infusion each week featuring various herbs, fruits and libations. The Portholes serve two guests and will be served tableside for $23.
Unique infusions include:
- Can’t Stop Thyme – Grey Goose Le Citron, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, fresh thyme, lemon
- Citrus Pear – Grey Goose, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Tea Forté Ginger Pear Tea, lemon
- Orange Sage – Grey Goose, lime, freshly squeezed citrus, fresh sage, housemade ginger syrup
