Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – March 10, 2015 – ModSolar, one of the rising stars of the solar industry, has recently hired solar industry veteran David Hammes as the company’s new Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
“With over 14 years of industry experience in renewable energy, sustainable building design, solar project development and executive level sales and marketing for global solar PV manufacturer, David brings expertise from all aspects of the solar industry to our team at ModSolar,” said Mike Dershowitz, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ModSolar.
“From residential solar sales to international utility scale projects, designing solar powered systems for developing countries, or overseeing the sales of solar panels into nearly 8,000 projects, David brings a broad-based knowledge and passion for the solar industry,” Dershowitz added. “He will have an immediate impact on our senior leadership and on ModSolar’s continued growth as the solar industry's leading, and largest, technology/ open software platform and sales solutions, serving thousands of clients in multiple countries around the world.”
ModSolar’s software enables solar providers to produce solar proposals and contracts in less than five minutes, including the company’s patent-pending software that enables placement of panels on an image of the prospect’s roof, as well as the calculation of the return on the solar investment. ModSolar develops software that dramatically reduces the “soft costs” involved in solar sales, solar system design, production of high-quality solar proposals, and all the paperwork surrounding solar installations.
Hammes was most recently the Vice President of Sales for Mage Solar US (Dublin, Georgia), from December 2009 to December 2014. While with the global solar PV manufacturing company, Hammes identified products, go-to-market strategies and value propositions to best serve the end-users of solar power. He built the sales organization from zero, to a run-rate of a 100 million watts in sold products within four years, by delivering higher quality and lower cost of power guaranteed.
He brings over a decade of experience in the solar industry to ModSolar, as well as an active role as a solar industry advocate. In addition, Hammes background includes 10 years in the media advertising industry, building and managing local sales teams. Hammes founded an online advertising firm and a SEO directory company in the late 1990s that he built from $0 start-up to a $200 million valuation. Hammes attended both Penn State University and The Wharton School’s Executive Leadership Program.
A guest lecturer at The Wharton School and Penn State University, he is certified in Green Building Design, US Green Building Council LEED trained, Solar PV certified, Solar Thermal certified, and Passive Solar Energy certified. He has experience with electric vehicles, energy storage and energy efficiency practices. Hammes even designed his own home in Doylestown (Bucks County) using sustainable building practices and energy efficient mechanical components starting nearly 20 years ago.
