Nearly 300 people have a blast at Riverton color run

Color color everywhere! There was 250 pounds of color to be exact. Combine that with over 280 runners and you get one heck of a good time! The Jackson, Aspen Park and Ash Grove elementary school PAC groups, led by Jackson’s PAC President Holly Jibben, put on one of the most highly attended 5k’s in Riverton’s history Friday night, and it did not disappoint. Kids, parents and dogs alike started the race clean and finished covered in a rainbow of colors.

The proceeds of the race were split among all the schools, and Holly said it was very successful. Her goal was 300 people and by Friday morning she had 280 pre-registrants. Many sponsors helped with the event including Coca Cola, The Rec Board, Atlantic City, Wyoming Community Bank, Baileys, 71 Construction and Jiffy. Holly said the RPD was extremely helpful in planning and patrolling the rout to keep the runners safe. Prizes included Fitbits, headphones, skateboards, bikes and many children walked away with passes for the swimming pool. All the prizes were donated so the proceeds of the race went straight to the schools.

The CWSA was also there selling pizza for the skate park and representatives from the Splash Pad were also there promoting their bike race in a couple weeks. It was an amazingly fun event made possible by hours of planning and with the generosity of many in the community.
