Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® teams up with the American Red Cross to host community blood drive at the Museum at Prairiefire on Friday, July 29

Attendees treated to family-friendly entertainment and donors receive free ticket to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Circus XTREME

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (July 14, 2016) – Due to the nationwide blood shortage and immediate need for life-saving donations, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive at the Museum at Prairiefire on Friday, July 29.

In addition to collecting blood donations for the local community, the event announces the upcoming arrival of and tickets for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Circus XTREME at Sprint Center, Sept. 15-18. All presenting donors will receive one complimentary ticket voucher to the opening night performance on Thursday, Sept. 15, and a yellow Prairiefire wristband, which is valid for discounts at every Prairiefire retailer on Friday, July 29.



The Circus XTREME blood drive is free and open to the public. It will feature family-friendly entertainment including free face painting, giveaways and a world-famous Ringling Bros. clown to entertain the crowd. Additionally, the Museum at Prairiefire will provide a complimentary Discovery Room session for children ages 3-12 while parents/guardians give blood. The Discovery Room is a hands-on, interactive space where children can learn about natural history and science through exploration and discovery. Parents will need to check-in their children with the museum staff before going to give blood and may return to the Discovery Room once they have been cleared to leave by on-site Red Cross staff.

Appointments for the blood drive are recommended but not required. Individuals can visit, click “find a drive,” and enter the sponsor code RinglingBros to schedule an appointment.


Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
