Actor MAX LESSER Delivers Opposite Mickey Rourke in “ASHBY”


LOS ANGELES (March 31, 2015) – Actor MAX LESSER delivers a pivotal moment alongside veteran actor Mickey Rourke in the upcoming comedy-drama, ASHBY. The film comes from celebrated Australian director Tony McNamara and will make its world premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival on April 19th.

ASHBY tells the story of high-school student Ed Wallis (Nat Wolff) as he enters into a friendship with his neighbor, Ashby Holt (Rourke), a retired CIA assassin who only has a few months left to live. Lesser portrays Doctor Stewart in the film, launching a critical moment in Ashby’s life. The film also stars Emma Roberts and Sarah Silverman.

Lesser was excited by the opportunity to work on the project, adding “Working with Mickey Rourke was like a master class in acting. He was so dedicated to his role and the raw emotion it evoked. It was amazing to work with and learn from a living legend.”

Earlier this year, Lesser earned high-praise for his starring role in the west coast premiere of the stage production, “Dirty.” Written by Kennedy Center Playwright Award-winner Andrew Hinderaker and directed by Obie Award-winner Shannon Cochran, Lesser was touted as “brilliant” by for his performance of a securities broker with a moral compass.

Up next, Lesser portrays the Grim Reaper in the comedy short, MY BEST FRIEND’S DEATH, from up-and-comers Eric McCoy and Justus Meyer. The film is a buddy pic about the unlikely friendship between a down and out failed writer and the Grim Reaper. When Death comes for his next victim, the two discover they went to high school together, leaving the Reaper torn between helping his friend and his sworn duty. Also due out later this year, Lesser just wrapped on Miranda Stewart’s new dramedy feature film, FISHBOWL, about friendship in the face of a terminal diagnosis.

Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Lesser has worked hard to build a solid resume and reputation in the industry. This Wesleyan University graduate has emerged in numerous film and television projects, including several appearances on the hit ABC series ACCORDING TO JIM, the indie action-comedy CARPE MILLENNIUM, and the docu-style horror film, CYRUS. Lesser first honed his chops performing at Chicago’s renowned Steppenwolf and The Goodman; and in New York City at The Atlantic Theatre.
