South Pass City, WY - Historically, the Carissa Mine & Mill ran 24 hours a day in 3 shifts. Carissa night shift workers would start their shift & walk by lantern to the mill above town, where they would work under electric lights. At the end of their shift, they would return to town & take a break in one of the saloons.
Catch the Night Shift is a lantern tour of the Carissa Mill, South Pass City & scotch tasting in the Miners’ Exchange Saloon June 28 and August 16, 6:30 p.m. hosted by the nationally known Scotch bar at the Miner’s Delight Inn Bed & Breakfast. The Carissa at night is a truly unusual experience. Admission will be $40 per person, & will include the tour & scotch tasting. Don’t miss the chance!
The proceeds will help with restoration projects & events at South Pass City State Historic Site.
