MARTA GOMEZ WINS LATIN GRAMMY AWARD™ FOR CHILDREN’S ALBUM "COLOREANDO: TRADITIONAL SONGS FOR CHILDREN IN SPANISH"

LAS VEGAS, NV – November 24, 2014 – The 15th annual Latin GRAMMY Awards™ were presented at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Thursday evening, November 20, 2014. Among the winners was Marta Gomez, winning the Best Latin Children’s Album award for her recording Coloreando: Traditional Songs for Children in Spanish, a part of the Global Language Project.

Coloreando: Traditional Songs for Children in Spanish is a compilation of popular folk and classic songs that Spanish speakers typically learn in childhood. The album brings vivid pictures of childhood to life, while creating a familiarity and igniting a love of the Spanish language for native and non-native speakers. The songs for the project were chosen because of their infectious melodies and universal relevance to children around the world. A portion of proceeds from Coloreando provides free language education programs to underserved students.

“As an independent musician, I never work for this type of recognition and therefore I never expected to be nominated and win a Grammy. That is why the news caught me during a show in La Plata, Argentina! But I receive the award with the respect it deserves and celebrate it with more songs. Here in Argentina, November 20 is the day to celebrate children's rights. So it was even more significant to win the Grammy on this date and keep working for a world where kids get to live a better future, with plenty of reasons to sing for!,” said Gomez after learning of the GRAMMY win.

“Our ultimate goal at Global Language Project is to empower children by teaching them a second language and music helps to enhance the teaching. We are thrilled to have Coloreando recognized by the Latin Grammy organization,” said Angela Jackson, Founder and Executive Director of the Global Language Project. “We produced a CD that an entire family will love, and we hope this music project will be the first of many we record in a number of languages.”
